SadisticSalmon an AOL AIM threat by Project Upstream
From PhillipRhoadesWiki
A program that contacts people and proxies the conversation between them apparently in hopes of capturing information and going by the name of "Project Upstream" is using the AOL instant messenger, or AIM, username SadisticSalmon and also the username ecrhtr.
Do not respond to messages from this screen name. Block them immediately and report the screen name to AOL. http://www.aim.com/help_faq/report.adp
This is a potentially malicious attack on the AIM system. Hopefully the techs there take it seriously and take care of it.
After trying to trace through it with the help of another victim I reported it to AOL on their site. I also told them that I had done so in my chat client. Their response:
- (08:07:56 PM) SadisticSalmon: Project Upstream: We will consider ourselves warned.
- (08:08:49 PM) SadisticSalmon: Project Upstream: We do not regard AOL as a threat.
- (08:10:37 PM) SadisticSalmon: Project Upstream: You do not respond to us.
after I blocked that screen name this one came on:
- (08:19:20 PM) ecrhtr: We are not moved by the threat of AOL enforcement.
